I mean, you had proven yourself, but then I imagine you get up and record labels and executives and everyone's got an opinion about Shania Twain now.

I got signed in my late 20s.

So as I was a kid on stage from the age of eight years old and writing all those years, I was pretty established in my skills as a writer and as a performer.

So it didn't take long.

It was really the very first album, Shania Twain, I didn't impose my own vision too much.

I already understood with that maturity that in my late 20s that, okay, you're new in town.

You got to be smart about this.

You can't just get kicked out of town by being a control freak, right?

But as soon as I'd made that first video, that was my own... I was right in that first video.

And I was co-directing that video.

And I styled it myself.

And...

The label's like, okay, here's more control.

And before I knew it, I was picking my own team.

And so when you pick your own team, now you're choosing people that you trust and whose talent that you admire.

And now you're good to delegate because you've chosen them for what they do.
