Yeah, it was pretty bad sometimes.

Those walls would shake.
Mind you, they weren't built very strongly either.
It's very traumatic.
It gets loud and scary, and it's like a really bad thunderstorm sometimes.
It's a lot of pressure on any young person who is in an abusive home, but especially when you've got younger siblings and your mom, I imagine, a lot of the time just wasn't emotionally capable to just do things like put dinner on the table because things were bad.
So you had to step up in that kind of maternal role very early.

So now we're living on or we're trying to stretch out whatever we've got left.
When we ran out of everything else, we could always crumble stale bread and we would freeze milk.
So that was good.
And when we ran out of fresh milk, we would thaw that milk and then we would make what we called goulash, which was we would boil the milk, pour it over dried bread.
And then add like a bit of brown sugar.
And it was actually really delicious.
It's like a cereal.
It sort of is.
