It means that we're all helping the environment and getting more use out of these devices.

But if you are looking at getting rid of a phone eventually, don't just put it in your drawer when you're done using it when those three years are up and then two years later be like, oh, I should sell this.

When you're getting ready to get your new one, that is the right time for you to think about getting rid of this old device.

There are a lot of ways you can do this.

There's Craigslist, which I'm sure we've all used at one point, eBay.

With those, it's kind of you're taking on all of the risk.

And you are the one who has to make sure that the phone is reset and all of the kind of things that you need to remove from it are removed.

There's also this third party called Swappa.

And it basically is a marketplace to help you sell directly to consumers.

But it kind of is that middleman.

So what it does is it verifies that all of the devices are real.

Like it makes you take a picture.

with a piece of paper saying what the date is so they can verify that, oh, yes, you actually have this device.

They make sure that everything has been stripped off of it and you don't have identifying information.

And then it helps you kind of make this introduction, I guess, to the potential buyers.

So that's a little like less of a risky heavy lift than maybe going to a Craigslist.

But in kind of my look at all of these different services, you could get the most money if you decide to just go directly and cut out kind of all of the middlemen.

It just means there's more work for you to do.
