And then every time a student got a bit of feedback, they wrote a bit of feedback underneath the arrow and they magically moved from a grade F to an E to a D to a C to B to an A.

So that would definitely go.
There was this really overly complicated questioning grid that had like what, how, why, or you know, all of these
Yeah, stuff there that um you know teachers would probably have to take half an hour to understand what was actually going on with it as opposed to just asking asking really, really good questions.
And uh the other thing at the time um levels disappeared.
So we came up with this idea of
for assessment without levels, the threshold model.
crazily complicated really, but yeah, that was in there.

A really important part of that story as well, Tom, is that at the t same time myself and Andy were thinking about that.
I um one one Saturday I was sent up into the loft by my wife Leanne to um
empty it out because I think we were having I don't know, we're having some new insulation laid or something.
So I I went up in the loft and I get bored very quickly and there was this box up there of her old school exercise books.
And uh so the first one that I pulled out was her chemistry book and it was she was taught chemistry in Porth Call in the early eighties in South Wales.
by this teacher called Mr.
Clark.
And I started to have a look through this exercise book.
And it was amazing.
