There's so many small moments.
Um and so especially for neurodivergent kids, it can feel like a hundred transitions in that single day.
And it actually is.
Exactly.
I think when we think about that back to school transition, you think about like sort of that final moment of that goodbye.
Yeah, yeah.
Uh but there's so many transitions sort of leading up to and then also after that, um, that is uh all lumped into this one transition often.
Say usually right.
Like uh as a behavior analyst, I think one of the things we try to do is like make things into like clean cut uh functions like access, attention, escape.
And now that I'm like uh further in my career, I find uh that almost everything has like multiple components to it, you know?
Yes, you always say that completely controls.
Yes.
And these are looking at some of the other things that go along in our brain too, right?
In the neuroscience of how uh A being neurodivergent can impact transitions and then how just like uh several transitions back to back can also impact how the brain's kind of processing the world.
Yeah.
Uh so the angle we want to take today is not how are we gonna make that first day smooth, um, but how do we scaffold that transition back to school in a way that's compassionate, practical, and actually helpful.
so what I mean by that is like how are we gonna uh set the day up for success, you know?
And and as as a behavior analyst, we look at antecedent strategies.
These are things that happen before the behavior.
I love antecedent strategies.
