It's like the Dobson conversation of last summer of like, he has to move because they're bringing in Schaefer.
They both can't play the power play.
Well, he goes to Montreal and he's not getting on the power play either because he has Lane Hudson there.
I don't think anyone's complaining.
I think everyone's looking at it going, wow, those are great defensive pairs.
Anyone would be lucky to have that across your top four.
So I would say the same thing here.
It's not like you look down the middle in Toronto and go, well, they can afford to lose Matthews.
If they had their next two first round picks, maybe this is a different conversation because
If they move Matthews, you better hope they get someone that was that top 10 pick caliber player, because even if they come back with first round picks from, say, Utah or L.A.
or any of those teams in the mix, they're not going to be as valuable as those first rounders would have been from Toronto itself, because if they move Matthews, they're going to finish lower in the standings.
So could they have the conversation?
If you're in Toronto, you should be exploring every single avenue.
Be as creative as possible.
Say, you know, nothing is off limits.
just yet to figure out what this next path should be but if matthews wants to stay for it i would say okay great that is a great future to have them because yes you want to have this next wave of young talent coming up together we're seeing it in san jose we're seeing it in anaheim but you also need players of different ages ranges too right like
You look at how San Jose has found those veterans to put around their core players to maximize them, the Sherwoods, the Weinbergs, and Anaheim, it's the Criters and the Grandlins.
Like, there's value there.
