I found lying on her bedside table.
It was a delicate gold chain with a small gold cross.
I knew Lucy hadn't been particularly religious.
In fact, I wasn't sure she believed in a Christian god at all with all of her New Age books and Buddha statues, so I knew it had to be something from her past.
Something she deemed precious enough to keep close to her.
It wasn't tucked away in a drawer hoping to be forgotten.
It was where she could see it every night.
I put it around my neck.
I don't really know why.
I guess because I missed my friend, and if it brought her comfort, it could maybe bring me some, too.
