Dr. Morgan, in our last segment, you were describing something called repetition compulsion, where we actually are drawn to familiar people that mirror the destructive relationships we may have had as children or previously in our lives because we're seeking out ways to prove to ourselves we can really be accepted by this kind of person.
Does this happen in the subconscious mind?
I think if we consciously knew we were doing this, we'd look in the mirror and go, what the heck is wrong with me?
You know?
You know, some of these people can be chameleons, though.
They can come out and be so nice and so wonderful.
Like the narcissist, like you said, you were involved with a narcissist.
We don't see it coming.
So is the process getting to know ourselves better too, and maybe developing more confidence?
Because all of this just seems so insidious and so elusive.
We get to the point where it's like, you know, I'm not even going to date anymore.
I can't trust myself.

So you said that people seeking out very destructive relationships, essentially, it's as high as, what, 50 percent?
Is there relational trauma with that many kids?
