And Thompson was seen as a the candidate further to the left, right?
There was a primary uh somebody else that the establishment wanted uh who had held positions in Kansas before you know, prior to that.
The Thompson was kind of a surprise when he won the nomination.
That kinda matches what we see traditionally in this district in uh in presidential years.
I think in twenty twenty four Estes won by thirty three points, something like that.
Like that's socialism.
you can get uh maybe you can get a national championship for Wichita States for basketball team.
Exactly.
That's how you win the primary.
Yeah,
Uh so y you know, the your your plan is to try to win the primary by positioning yourself as a more progressive candidate and arguing that that's the way uh to give Democrats the best chance.
But I even then, how do you close that large of a gap?
Thirty something points from two years ago, uh
even without Trump on the ballot, even with the the backlash to the administration, even if there's a blue wave, that's an enormous gap to close.
Like how do you close that?
Are you realistic about like what what do you think the odds are of being anybody being able to close that gap?
Do you think your message would win over independent voters, the idea of voting for a progressive?
