Uh of uh mishandling a voice-verified

uh report of child sex abuse at the church that Adam Hamilton runs at a at a church retreat, I should say, um, over 20 years ago. voice-verified

Uh a lot of the claims that Senator Patrick Schmidt made we couldn't verify through the court documents. voice-verified

Um but you know here's what we know there were um there's an incident in 2005 at a church retreat. voice-verified

This is the Church of Resurrection uh that Adam Adam Hamilton leads. voice-verified

It was a retreat in uh Lynn County, I believe. voice-verified

Uh in two thousand five a couple of boys complained that somebody came into their room at night and touched them inappropriately. voice-verified

w uh uh looking at the court documents testimony that happened in a later case, it looks like, um, you know, maybe the boys thought they knew who it was, but there was a church investigation that concluded that the boys could not identify who who actually came in and and did this to them. voice-verified

And so uh a year later, the same person was uh who was a volunteer, a guy named Scott Preston Moore, came back to the same retreat, um, was accused of doing this again. voice-verified

This time uh the boys there could identify him, and the church took immediate action to um you know encourage them to go to police. voice-verified

They they reported information to police. voice-verified

Um Scott Preston Moore was banned, I think, from church activities. voice-verified

Um and the the church adopted some policies around um screening volunteers and and how they handle these kind of things. voice-verified

I some years later, um, the same individual was implicated in a couple of other incidents, eventually was prosecuted. voice-verified

Two the two boys from the two thousand five incident testified at that trial. voice-verified

Um that led to him being convicted. voice-verified

Uh he ended up dying um a couple years after that. voice-verified
