You do want to give him some credit.
But he's not someone known as a player with an amazing β
approach of the plate plate discipline like he's not someone you think of fighting their way back from an 0-2 and he you know he gave that ball a little bit of a ride too like there was some interest off the bat like oh that maybe that could go to the wall or something like that and it didn't end up happening but that really you know it really profoundly changed the ball game tying the game there I think that might have affected Corbin getting lifted from the game at that moment if they're if they're down at that time that might have changed things
And yeah, really strong at bat.
It's been a bit of a weird run for him because they've thrown him right in the middle of the lineup.
And if you just look at the number, like he has produced in a literal sense, but it has been a lot of ground ball singles for him.
It has not been any real display of power.
And this was an important situational moment for him, not an at bat that you're going to say that's the most incredible display of hitting ever seen.
But in the context of the ball game, it was very much what the Blue Jays needed.
This is still a player who is on the right side of 30, who's had decent success as kind of a middle of the lineup hitter at the major league level.
It was quite a while ago.
And as you said, the physical stuff is probably diminished by the series of injuries he's had, to be honest.
But he's healthy, he's producing to some degree, and there are always teams desperate for offense.
At the beginning of the season, too, in April, runs can be hard to come by.
This season in particular, offense is down around the league.
I'm not selling him as if he's going to be an incredibly hot commodity around baseball, but I could envision another team giving him a shot.
I don't think that that should affect the Blue Jays' thinking too much, to be honest.
I don't think he's a player they should feel the need to keep.
This is a...
player with very limited defensive utility, if any, and a bat that has been okay so far, but there's not a ton of reason to believe it's going to be incredible going forward.
