There's rumors of a squirrel being involved.
Yes.
And no one is willing to confirm or deny whether there will be a squirrel.
Maybe that's what it is.
Maybe it's a don't squirrel it away kind of thing.
Who knows?
Red squirrel I hear as well.
The rumours are red squirrel, not grey squirrel.
Grey squirrel's bad, red squirrel's good.
You know, you don't want a non-native squirrel that's come over and taken over our squirrel population telling you to invest.
Ha ha ha!
But I think before we get too far down the squirrel hole, I think that what we need to focus on is why on earth are we doing this?
We sort of need to go back a couple of steps on this because Rachel Reeves wants us to invest our money.
She's told us this.
She told us this in the budget.
She told us this as she was cutting the cash ISA limit from ยฃ20,000 to ยฃ12,000.
And it's to encourage people to invest their money.
So if you've got ยฃ20,000 a year to put away, she doesn't want you putting ยฃ20,000 a year in cash.
She wants you putting some of it into investments.
It's very tempting, as I said in my column, to think, well, you've told me to do that.
