Absolutely.

There was no... They were equally important because I didn't realise, I was never told how difficult it was to combine the two.

But prior to my time, you had players like Dennis Compton and Willie Watson who actually played cricket for England...

And football for England, which is, you know, quite extraordinary.

But I found in 62, 63, doing those two was absolute madness.

But for some amazing reason, Ron Greenwood saw something in me to try me out front.

Yeah, I was really.

I think probably one of the reasons he picked me up front is because I was very two-footed.

My father did one of the things he did when I was six or seven years of age.

He taught me to kick with my left foot in our small back garden in Chelmsford.

So I was very two-footed.

And in the youth team at West Ham, we won a tournament in Amsterdam in the late 50s, under-17s.

And we won the final 2-0.

And I got both goals, playing from midfield, obviously with both feet.

I wasn't too bad at school.

English, maths, science and technical drawing, I think.

4.0 levels I got.

I wasn't bad.
