And then what happened was we were in a Queen Mary ballroom and the DJ said, hey, anybody want to get up and do something and win a prize?
We were all under 15.
We were all drinking underage in the Queen Mary ballroom.
When you walked in, everybody was doing their homework at the bar with half a larder.
So we'd all be there.
And anybody want to get up?
And my mate said, you should get up and do something.
And I said, what do you mean?
He said, well, you're going to win a bottle of whiskey and they'll give you 25 quid.
And I went, all right.
And they encouraged me.
They didn't go, you'd be rubbish.
They literally encouraged me to get up.
So I got up and I did Elvis.
And 500 kids were watching me going,
There's a black kid doing Elvis on stage.
Like they'd never heard.
You know, I did Jamaican Elvis and it was amazing.
And I knew it had worked because the Saturday after, when I was walking down the street, do you ever shop with your mum?
