Are they truthful?
Truthfulness, oh my gosh, I just remembered my mother's voice.
It came to me.
She always says truthfulness is the foundation of all human virtues.
So I was very concerned with being truthful.
Also, Baha'is believe that backbiting is a great sin.
So gossip, gossip and backbiting, which was a problem for me because I love gossip.
I really focused on trying to do the right thing and say the right thing and say my prayers in the morning and in the evening and always be looking at the day as it passed and thinking, did I do well or did I do ill, as Steinbeck writes?
I have that quote in my head for some reason.
So I was actively trying to be a good person.
There were a few other Baha'i children.
I think at my school when I went to primary school there was one other who I'm still very good friends with today.
She's a dear friend of mine.
But we were definitely the odd ones out and I didn't like that.
I certainly didn't like telling people that I was a Baha'i but I would do it because as a Baha'i you're meant to be proud of the fact that you are
can spread the latest message of God, that you've been lucky enough to be born into a family that has this message and you should be happy to share it.
So I always felt guilty for not sharing it, but I did not want to be different.
