And then a friend posts on Facebook, and they're like, ah.
So my strategy for helping deal with this kind of challenge is I subscribe to a service that just gives one news story a day.
And that is my news.
And basically, the idea is if it's not important enough to be the top news story of the day, it's probably not important enough to care about.
Funnily enough, many days I'm like, that's not even important enough for me to want to read it.
And it's like the only, you know, they're picking one news story a day.
It's kind of crazy to think about.
But so much of this is noise, right?
And I find that helpful for me staying on top of the important things happening in the world, but kind of not getting sucked into it and not wasting time and not getting stressed out about things needlessly, but still knowing kind of what's happening.
Now, let's say you're in the field of AI and things are moving so fast, it may be even more difficult to deal with this because there is information you really want to stay on top of and it is changing a lot.
And there I would say the same kind of strategy can be useful.
Being really aware of where am I getting my news?
What are the good news sources?
What's the stuff that's going to keep me up to date?
And then trying to block out all the noise.
You don't need to constantly scroll and get every single new post on X about AI, a bunch of which are probably complete exaggerations anyway, or bad takes.
Figure out your trusted news sources, and that's where you're going to get your information.
That's how you're going to stay on top of things.
And then you don't need to just constantly, passively consume all this other information.
Well, it's a bit of an irony because often people go to social media as a form of avoidance or as a form of attempting to sort of unwind, right?
