But another time in life, you may need lever 11 or lever two.
So it's trying to give you sort of these tools that you can come back to again and again for many different things.
And I think that's why, even though this is not a book about dealing with psychological challenges of high impact work, that's why I think it's relevant because I think it's relevant to like all psychological challenges.
Like that is kind of the point of the book.
Yeah, so for me, so we have a lever.
We call it approach the monster, which is about the natural human tendency to run away from negative emotions, especially fear.
The nature of fear is that we want to avoid it.
You think about that's sort of how it operates.
It's like, you know, you see a lion at the watering hole and you don't go back to the watering hole for a while because you're afraid of it.
That's the predictive measure.
But for many people, this process goes a bit haywire.
And they start avoiding things due to negative emotions or anxiety or fear.
And that actually causes all kinds of negative consequences in their life.
And for me, that was huge because I grew up with a lot of social anxiety to the point where if I had to go start a conversation with a stranger at, let's say, a party, I would feel like my heart was going to explode, like it would be pounding so hard in my chest I could barely function.
And then when I would host events, because I enjoyed hosting events, I would get so nervous.
I'd be stressed out the entire day beforehand, not able to enjoy the day before the event.
And then when I was in my early 20s, I was like, I've got to do something about this.
I can make this better.
And I went to a therapist, and he taught me about exposure therapy, which is a really effective method.
