It's actually literal.

It's about how much value you produce, and it splits into three factors.

These factors are the time you put in.

The more time you put into something, all else equal, you're going to produce more of what you value.

The efficiency, like how much value do you produce per hour.

And then the importance of the thing you're working on.

If it's not important to you at all, according to what you value, you get no output in terms of what you value.

I think that very often people want to be productive, like throw hours at the problems because in a way it's like the simplest and most obvious.

And it does improve your productivity as long as you can keep the other things equal.

But it's in many cases, unless you're like underworking, that's one thing.

But for many productive people, it's actually like the worst thing

way to get more productivity.

And I think I'm prone to throwing more hours at things.

So that's one that I have to keep coming back to and be like, that is not the best way to be more productive and remind myself of it.

And so that's an ongoing piece of work for me.
