Yeah, it was.

My father played rugby, not at a high level, but he grew up playing rugby and that.

And then he met my mum and then he had to play rugby league.

Because of my grandfather.

So yeah, look, it was always in the family.

My grandfather actually played rugby union up until he was 28.

So he moved to the league, you know, quite late in his sporting career.

And we lived in...

in Ponsonby at the time, and Ponsonby was a strong rugby league club.

So that was my first team that I played for.

I got two older brothers, twin brothers.

So I played in their team when I was like three or four, five.

So my memories of playing of those days was just picking daisies, you know, on the field.

And then, yeah, fortunate enough that after a year or two, I just loved it.

I loved watching the All Blacks.

I mean, I loved the Kiwis more, but I still loved getting up early hours in the morning when the All Blacks were playing overseas, because my dad loved it.

Who were the players?

You look back in those days, like Stu Wilson and Murray Mexte, Grant Fox, those sort of players.

Yeah, I loved watching the All Blacks play as a kid, because it's instilled in us.

But my passion more was watching the Kiwis, watching Olsen, Clayton, Mark Graham, Dean Bell, the Sorensons.
