So, I mean, I don't actually have a particular problem with the fact that they gave the discretion to an independent panel to take everything into account and come up with a decision as to what the penalty should be.
But that is what they ended up doing.
But now we are in a different world and in the first year you can only have financial penalties in SCL.
So there won't be anybody losing points.
Yeah, I mean, so it's different in the extent that we're not talking about conventional breaches of PSR.
The City case is different.
The allegations around City are that effectively a lot of the information, the financial information, was effectively false.
And so it's just the very nature of the case is completely different and much more serious than a simple breach of these rules and one that, if proven by the Premier League, I think is bound to lead to very severe sporting punishment.
I don't want to be a CEO of a football club.
To start with, which is fortunate because nobody's offered me a job.
But the ironic thing is you almost need my background these days to be a CEO of a football club because you need to be able to somehow triangulate the commercial side of things.
the financial side of things and the legal side of things because you're constantly in a board meeting now if you're the CEO and you really want to understand what is your position against that compliance within the rules.
You do need to look at five different sets
of your profit and loss accounts measured by each individual set of rules with forecast positions, but also the historic, it leads almost to everything because it then dictates what's your budget, not just your budget for what's your budget on the playing side, but how much do you need to allocate maybe for some breaches and some fines that you might have to pay off to UEFA or to the Premier League.
So part of the problem here is
is that we have created a scenario where almost the only people who can have a clear view of what's going on in a football club are the professional teams, not even the footballing side, because the football side, they're receptive to whatever that budget is, ultimately.
But you need to be able to be a cross-disciplinary expert across finance, law, commercial...
And then the footballing side as well.
So it's an unbelievably challenging role now for a Premier League CEO and also for their finance teams and their legal teams.
