You've got to say Ravenna, not Ravenna.

That was very good.

I was in Ravenna for a book festival.

And the lovely Italians that I was there with kept saying, you must come and see the mosaica.

Now, because I don't speak Italian, Kate, I had no idea what they were saying.

Just nodding along.

You do speak Italian and now thinking I'm an idiot, but maybe I was.

I didn't know they meant mosaics because I didn't know that Vavenna was the site of UNESCO World Heritage mosaics.

So unveiled in 548, because they will have taken longer than that to make, were these mosaics.

And that's probably...

pretty close to when she died.

And when you walk into this fairly small chapel, it's not enormous, you, of course, see a massive Jesus in front of you in mosaic.

I mean, of course you would.

It's Jesus.

It's the Christian church.

And on his right-hand side, appropriately, is the Emperor Justinian and all of Justinian's courtiers.

Again, fairly par for the course so far.

But on his left-hand side is the Empress Theodora and all her women courtiers.

They're the same size as the men.

And that's so unusual, right?
