Sure.
Well, I had gotten a letter from the IRS and they, after I'd done my taxes and they said, we've, we've corrected or we've changed your return and now you owe us a whole bunch of money.
And I looked at it and the numbers were all weird.
And I realized as I went through it, I'm like, I don't actually owe them any money.
I paid all of this and they just don't seem to have credited me for my payments.
And so,
I thought this should be easy enough to fix, right?
I'll just call them and I'll send them my records and that should be it.
But calling them proved to be impossible.
I spent hours and hours and hours on hold with the IRS, getting disconnected.
Sometimes I'd be on hold for two hours and then get disconnected.
Sometimes you call and they say that the phones are so overwhelmed, you can't even be put on hold.
And I realized, so then I asked my accountant, I was like, is there an
something I'm missing.
I'm like, is there some other way to get in touch with them and resolve this?
And she said, I don't know, I can't get through either.
And there's like a special line for tax practitioners to be able to help, you know, their clients resolve stuff and they can't get through that either.
And that's when I realized, oh, wow.
it's finally broken.
And part of the reason I realized that is that last year I did a story on the IRS about all the layoffs and the job cuts because I'm from Ogden, Utah, and there's a giant IRS service center in Ogden.
