And it's getting wider and wider because people on the upper end of the income scale start paying and they know they can get away with it.
So as long as that's the case, you know, there's all kinds of revenue that the government should have that's going uncollected.
Well, I think that they just also want to punish like normal people.
That's my, you know, when I was trying to, when I was sitting on hold for hours trying to get through, I mean, the direct pay, my understanding is that it was basically so that you don't have to pay TurboTax to file your really simple 1040 form.
You should be able to, the idea was you should be able to just file your taxes online, especially if they're not too complicated and it should be free.
Like you shouldn't have to pay these companies to buy their software and then have to pay to submit it when,
you're doing something that you have to do and the government is happy to have you do it online.
Because also getting people to file their taxes online is good for, you know, less paper.
They don't have to hire as many people to open the mail and stuff like that.
So it was a win-win all the way around.
But, you know, TurboTax, I think, had fought this for years.
And so I think the Trump people just caved and said, yeah, okay, we'll get rid of that.
And
God forbid the government should actually work right and help people do something that they need to do.
Right.
And I think, you know, so the data that you're talking about is the IRS's own data says that they are not responding to phone calls.
It's remarkable.
Like, you know, millions of people call the IRS.
And this data actually, I think, mostly comes from during the tax filing season.
which is bad because the numbers were bad during the tax filing season, even though the Trump administration actually tried to keep that from being a total disaster.
