Hi, this is Stephanie Moss. Happy New Year. Happy freaking New Year. Holy schmoly. I hope everybody has had a wonderful and restful holiday season, but we are here. It was a tremendous year and I am incredibly thankful for all the opportunities to meet new folks, get to partner with new folks, and I can't wait for more this year. I have ditched my crystal ball.

My magic eight ball is in the trash. My crystal ball hasn't worked since the last recession back in 08 and 09. But I do know this, whatever happens, we are coming into the year stronger, better. It may not always feel that way. I know for me personally, some of my priorities are in better order than they've ever been. I feel like I'm more grateful for what I do have

than I have ever been, and I hope you feel the same way. I hope we can stay focused on, hey, whatever it is, we can handle it. Couple things, if you haven't done so already, just to get ready for the new year. Hopefully you've done a little bit of house cleaning, and I'm not talking about your actual home or place of residence.

But in terms of your desk, your space, whatever the case may be, hopefully you've spent a few minutes over the holidays clearing out the clutter. And I do mean your physical space, but I also mean your mental space. So I'm going to start off happy. Why not? Why not? I'm here. I have my health, my family. I have work to do. I have a roof over my head.

I have no doubt this year will bring lots of challenges. But for today, I choose happy. And I hope you do too.

Hi, this is Stephanie Moss. For those of you that know me, you know I've been doing these for quite some time. The fun part is the doing them. The hard part sometimes is coming up with the content. I reached out to some of my partners and colleagues at our firm and I said, hey, if anybody has any ideas that they would like me to share, please let me know and I'll be happy to do so.

One of my favorite partners reached out after having had a, we'll say an incident at a company function, said, hey, I think you should talk about how to handle hangovers in the workplace. So I gotta be honest, I don't have a ton of recent experience, but from back in the day when I did, here's just a couple of pointers for handling a hangover in the workplace.

So I gotta be honest, I don't have a ton of recent experience, but from back in the day when I did, here's just a couple of pointers for handling a hangover in the workplace.
First and foremost, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. I know it's easy to get caught up beer after beer, wine after wine, shot after shot, but let's be smart. Buffer in some water every now and again. It really helps. If you don't, however, and you find yourself awake, having to rush off to work with a hangover, just remember it's never too late.

I know it'll be tempting to go for the caffeine, but buffer in the water. It'll speed things up. Second thing, medicate. Let's be honest. If you're anywhere even close to my age, hangovers hurt. Let's not be shy about this. Advil, Tylenol, whatever it takes. It is your friend. Take it regularly until you can get to the other side. Lastly, have fun with it. We've all been there. Yeah, it stinks.

And so you made a mistake. You drank too much the night before and now you're trying to function. Be a good spirit. Have a good attitude and just be more mindful next time.
