Yeah, sorry to do it, but you know, if you have the average home in the US, like median sale price, it's around four hundred thirty thousand dollars. matched

If you got a standard loan right before the war, when rates were right around six percent, you'd be paying a little more than two thousand dollars a month on just the principal and interest. matched

But if you got a loan at today's rate, that'd be more than two hundred dollars extra each month. matched

And two hundred dollars more each month, that could put a big squeeze on a lot of the things. matched

And there's a really important caveat here. matched

Uh what you pay depends on your credit score. matched

If your credit score is less than excellent, you can be paying a lot more each f each month for a home. matched

What does this mean for people who already own a home? matched

Well, most of them have a fixed rate mortgage, so rates going up doesn't really affect their monthly housing budget. matched

But if they want to move into a new house, they could end up paying a lot more. matched

This is the reason why so few people are selling their homes and they just can't make the math work. matched
