Professor Dunbroff is an assistant professor at Yale University, working primarily on feminist philosophy and metaphysics.
Their recent publications include What is Sexual Orientation?
on Philosopher's Imprint, and Moving Beyond Mismatch on American Journal of Bioethics.
Gender binary is typically understood as there being two discrete, exhaustive categories of gender, male and female.
Professor Dembroff then discusses how to understand the concept of genderqueer or gender non-binary as a conceptual stance resisting the saturated dichotomy of masculinity and femininity.

In this episode of Elucidations hosted by Matt Tachman and Henry Curtis, we invited Professor Stephanie Capusta to discuss misgendering.
Professor Capusta is assistant professor at Dalhousie University.
She works on feminist philosophy, social and political philosophy, and ethics.
In the discussion, Professor Capusta criticized the philosophical account of gender that is based on a cluster of properties.
That is, a person has to satisfy a minimum number of male and female properties to be categorized as male or female.
Professor Capusta points out that the cluster account has exclusionary and marginalizing effects on non passing transgender people.
Other interesting questions covered in this episode include the distinction between respecting a person's gender and validating it.
