So I think transparency is a good thing.

I think that the Commonwealth should be publishing the fees.

Another approach is for the health insurance funds, who have all this information, to publish the fees either to general practitioners or to their members directly.

So I think it's quite reasonable for the member to be able to ring up the health insurance fund and say, I've just been referred to a doctor for a mastectomy or for a hip replacement.

I think overall it will depress fees.

I mean there's some worry that the people who are low charges will will put their fees up.

But we've got to remember that we're seeing a an increase in the number of specialists now because of the overproduction of medical students and medical graduates out of the medical schools.

And so I think competition will begin to have a play.

The poor general practitioner is, in a sense, referring in the dark.

They they have a little bit of information, but they don't have the full scope of information.

The health insurance funds have a lot of information.

A MediaBank, uh, for example, has been publishing information about surgeons generally for the last couple of years now.

They publish information about the extent to which patients end up in the intensive care.

Unit, they publish information about readmission rates, they publish information about some other rates of complications.
