No, there's nothing wrong with a floppy sun hat.
It's just, it's songs that are breezy.
They are what our colleague Lars Gottrich might call rosé wave.
you know, just like gorgeous, slightly loungy, dreamy songs.
A song like Habits of Creatures, you know, has this like, the quality is like bedroom disco.
And I think she wears bedroom disco really, really well.
Well, and it really speaks to, like, man, she was born to write songs.
Right?
Like, she is clearly somebody who spends a lot of time in her head and thinks a lot about writing songs and thinks a lot about her own emotions and her own feelings.
And, you know, it could have been so easy for this record to map kind of perfectly over Carly Rae Jepsen's own life.
She fairly recently got married.
She's had a baby.
This could have been a totally bucolic journey through the life of somebody who's hitting all these wonderful life milestones and feeling it.
But, like...
it's still capturing this huge range of emotions.
There's still loads of melancholy.
There are still loads of feelings.
Because no matter what is going on in your life, it's going to be a cocktail of good and bad.
