The recognition of Western Sahara came in return for getting Morocco to formally recognize Israel, not waiting, breaking them away from the Arab League position, which is we'll recognize Israel once they end the occupation and allow for Palestinian statehood.
but to recognize them beforehand and become part of the so-called Abraham Accords.
So there has been this nexus of Israel, United States, and Morocco with greater strategic cooperation.
And let's be honest, Trump is more comfortable with leaders like Netanyahu and various Arab despots than he is with the liberal democracies of Europe.

I mean, Western Sahara, along with Palestine, are the only nations that are recognized as non-self-governing territories under foreign religion occupations.
And one can argue that some countries have a moral right to self-determination, like Tibet or Kurdistan or Kashmir or whatever, but legally speaking, those are the only two entire nations that are essentially under occupation.

And you have Israelis, you know, urban officials pushing the same line.
Now, it's a reasonable debate whether any European country should have any land on the African continent.
But it's not like these folks have suddenly become anti-colonial on principle.

And what's interesting is that the Israelis are really mad at Sanchez because he's been one of the most outspoken European leaders regarding the Palestinians and the oppression and the genocidal war in Gaza and the like.
