And they also democratically elected their parliament and their president.
So here we have what should be a model.
for what the west supposedly wants of an arab muslim country that supports women's rights that's democratic that's moderate that has never engaged in terrorism at all and yet we support the occupation meanwhile in congress is a bipartisan bill to declare the polisario which is the national liberation front a terrorist organization even though again they've never engaged in terrorism
I mean, rocket propagandists have claimed they have ties to Hezbollah and Iran, but that is total nonsense.
Right.
Total nonsense.
And so, and I think it underscores that the Islamophobia is really an excuse to, you know,
essentially promoting Western imperialism, that we have to support these autocratic regimes like Morocco, in part supposedly to suppress Islamic extremism, while in fact what they're primarily doing is suppressing a very moderate, indeed liberal, Muslim country that is simply seeking the right of self-determination,
And again, as you mentioned at the outset, Morocco is actually a colonizer.
In fact, what's interesting, they originally seized Western Sahara, in part, back in 1975, by assembling 300,000 unarmed Moroccans.
in what they call the Green March, and supposedly this anti-colonialist effort, when Spain had already agreed to enter the territory and was ready to hand it over to the Polisario.
Morocco simultaneously had a military invasion, which was quite brutal and ended up expelling nearly half the population.
But in many ways, this effort around Ceuta is a replay of that, of trying to take and, you know,
play the anti-colonialist card for a country that is itself a colonizer.
