I suppose you can press...
anywhere on the pitch.
Pressing doesn't have to be only what you do in your final third, does it?
You can press in midfield, you can be more pressing
as a defending team in midfield or at the back than you would be if you were more a team that was happy to sort of stand off players and let them play and let them have possession a bit.
I think we do it quite well on the whole.
And, you know, if we're that far up the stats from the observatory...
That suggests we're doing something right.
And if you look at Ipswich, where are they in the league table?
They're in a good position in the league table.
They're not that far off the top two, in fact.
So that suggests that for them it's working, even if they're conceding a lot of fouls.
I suppose if you're doing enough pressing...
Yes, you might concede some fouls, but eventually you'll force some mistakes as well.
So it's working for them.
I'd be interested to see, not asking you to get all 56 leagues out now, but I'd be interested to see the teams at the bottom of the pressing league, those who don't value it so much and don't do it.
So, yeah, it sounds like Gus needs to learn a little bit about how it's done.
He probably knows, he would know already from the coaching staff.
as a broad outline of what he's expected to do.
If the left-back's got the ball at his feet, go and harass him, go and get the ball off him.
