told from Watson's perspective apart from one and because the character of Holmes is so cold and calculated and logical and clinical you need the warmth that Watson brings to that to bring that story to life Watson is is us really in those stories he takes us by the hand and shows us this extraordinary man and his ways and he's just as amazed by Holmes as we are

That's great to hear.
I always love to hear that from readers because I try to give as big a twist as I can, but they only work if you don't see them coming.
And of course, that they make sense, that they're almost inevitable, but still be surprising.
And that's the trick of it.
The other trick in the books is I always write for two readers.
I write for readers who have read all of my books and readers who have never read any of them.
So they all have to work as complete standalone novels where you can start the series anywhere.
Absolutely.
And the best place to start, I think, is the new one.
One of us is guilty.
That's probably my best one to date.
