That's sort of part of the immigration story, which isn't always told.
The Ellis Island story is how many went back.
Right, uh, because it wasn't easy to come to the United States.
And there was no help, no public assistance for you if you came here uh from Italy or Ireland, you know, or wherever.
It was sink or swim, you know, quite literally, and assimilation demanded.
Neither of those factors exist today.
In fact, the opposite, right?
We we in particular in places like Maine and Minnesota, we bent over backwards to make life comfortable for you, even if you're not really trying to, you know, to swim, even if you would sink on your own.

give you the little life raft and pay for it, even if you hate us.
That's, you know, sort of where we are now.
So I believe that that a pause, an immigration moratorium makes a lot of sense.
Let's assimilate the tens of millions of migrants that we legal migrants, not the illegals, of course, the legal migrants that we have here already in this country.
You know, we we are at a higher percentage now than we have been of foreigners in the United States, between legal and illegal.
Than we have ever been in our history.
We're higher than we were in the heyday of Ellis Island during the Industrial Revolution days.
We are higher now.
And of course we're higher numerically.
There's about, yeah, I think credible estimates.
There were about 50 million foreigners total in the United States between the legal ones who are allowed to be here and the illegal ones.
