Where one of its AI agents escaped their test environment and hacked a real target. voice-verified

The incident involved the Opus 4.6 model during a capture the flag challenge, a common cybersecurity test, they wrote. voice-verified

Anthropic says the model broke its test environment by accident when it assigned conflicting IP addresses to different machines. voice-verified

the model realized its mistake and tried to terminate the test as a failure. voice-verified

The issue arose when the abort operation itself failed due to a misconfiguration in the test environment, leaving the agent running inside. voice-verified

Unable to end the capture the flag challenge, the Opus four point six model continued to probe the environment until it found a way out, which involved a system belonging to a third unnamed entity. voice-verified
