Uh and and then, you know, maybe he came out of it with a cramp, maybe it won't be as significant or s serious, but it sure feels like it's it's daunting.
You put him on the IL so he's gonna miss a
at least a couple starts uh and they can't afford you know a couple starts because because when you go bullpen day instead of beaver or when you go you know Simeon Wood Richardson or or Ericetty and they can only go four innings, it's it's what you're doing to the bullpen for the rest of the time when you're gonna need high leverage relievers and they're gonna have been overworked already for a bullpen that's so
overworked, the most overworked in all of baseball.
So I mean it it can happen, but I mean this really, really, really put a dent in in any potential playoff hopes from my perspective.
Yeah, I mean I think he signs a one year contract next year, uh, you know, and it's a pillow contract, hoping that he can show that he's back healthy and can sustain a whole season and then try to get a bigger deal after that.
And so he's not a qualifying offer guy.
I can't possibly risk whatever that number will be.
You know, and again, we don't know whether qualifying offers will be being part of the new C VA agreement, but if they are under these old rules, you know, twenty three million.
I can't risk that on him, uh, considering the health factor.
So, you know, he'll be one of those guys who signs late, uh, tries to find the right team, a ballpark that would be the right fit, a team behind him that would be the right fit.
And the Jays, I think, certainly would qualify potentially as that.
But uh, even when you do it and you sign him back, you know that you're bringing somebody back in that you are wanting to count on.
on and he's not somebody that is that reliable right now.
And so uh you better have a backup for him if you do it.
And and you know Scherzer's kind of the same way and that you if you bring him back, that's fine, but you better have multiple backups behind these guys to protect you uh for the next season.
Yeah, yeah.
So what it's gonna take is it's gonna be timing becomes really important.
And timing is luck in baseball.
That's why run differential means so much because when you score that many more runs than you give up, and and you know, timing can affect some of it, but yet you tend to believe your team that outscores their opponents and over time you win.
