So, I mean, Davies will be there.
We know that.
If Davies can play five minutes in the last group stage game, he will be in that squad.
He'll be an option.
But we're just hopeful that he can play more.
minutes earlier than maybe what was anticipated when he first re-injured the hamstring in the Champions League match.
Well, I don't think Canada can afford to be that sort of arrogant or confident, whatever you want to call it.
I think they need to worry about like the first game and then take that in the second game, the third game.
Obviously, Canada have never had a point at World Cup, even though we're optimistic that they can go far and that they can get to knockout stage game and then
who knows where that ends up we saw that two years ago didn't we with Copa America where it went so much better than maybe we expected but I think realistically two goals one of them being an own goal in World Cup play and zero points means that you've got to focus on the here and now and so I think that first game is your focus I think getting through the group and getting out of the group is the focus but it depends on what kind of player you are if you're
a very important player like Jonathan David or Alphonso Davies or Moise Bambito, then they sort of need to be there no matter what, and if you can get any minutes out of them at any stage, then it's worth it.
So there's this balance between a kind of measured squad and some understudies in certain areas, and then obviously game changers and difference makers, and so...
it's probably a little easier for Jesse Marsden to say Thomas Tuchel at England where there's only so many players he can pick from and even though the pool's got better it's still pretty sparse when it comes to the selections he really has to pick his best players and hopefully his fittest players in this 26-man roster and then hope that obviously recovery goes as well or better than expected
It's a good question, Noodles.
I actually think realistically they can get out of the group.
I really do.
I think we've got to be optimistic and we have to push these guys to be at their absolute best.
If we want to achieve the maximum from having a home World Cup, we need this team to get out of the group stage.
We need them to progress to at least a knockout game.
The dream scenario is that they win the group and that they stay in Vancouver because I think having games in Canada...
