Didn't know who it was.
She was walking down the street somewhere in Alicante near her apartment.
And somebody just came up from behind, pulled her hair and slashed her in the face and then ran off.
And it was just over as quick as that.
And she sent me the pictures of her facial injuries and they were pretty serious.
I have no reason to doubt.
She clearly had been attacked with some kind of blade.
So we ran the story as it was.
And obviously there was a lot of...
She's been the target on social media ever since the John George murder.
I mean, horrendous things have been said about her, just outrageous, terrible, misogynistic, just awful things have been said about her, regardless of what has gone on.
She's a young woman who's...
So, you know, just about 20 years old.
So, yeah, not defending her anyway, but some of the things that have been said about her are just horrific.
But that being that, I was then contacted after the story ran.
Somebody had emailed me to say...
an anonymous account that they um they attacked didn't happen any way that madison said it happened they said it had happened um and then they said they had cctv footage saying that she was a liar and she knew exactly who it was who had done this to her and i buy some i emailed back to her like i you know i can't run the story based on if you've got cctv i have to see it
So, fair enough, they did send me the CCTV footage that showed very clearly exactly what happened in the attack.
And, I mean, I think I have a duty, you know, once somebody tells you a story and you run it, and obviously it's not, it's only about 50% what you were told, I think you have a duty to then, if you get information and, you know, cast iron evidence of what actually happened, you have a duty to sort of run that and get that out there.
