Yeah, I guess just in isolation, Godric Gryffindor's, you know, two line, or I guess the two lines you get from his autobiography aren't enough to convey the right way to do that, but it does convey the destination.
A line I remember really well was when Harry's talking with Hermione about whether or not Hermione is allowed to have authorship over her own life is that he says, I think you and I are both worried about the same thing, that if we take our hands off the wheel, we're going to crash.
And
How can you... This is diving too much.
We've never sat and just talked about this rationality before.
And we'll get through this essay and we'll stay focused on this, but it'd be fun just to sit and chat about the whole thing because that is, and I've said, that is a really difficult spot to be in.
How do I love and trust my friends and let them do something that I think might not work or I'm pretty sure won't work?
You know, am I respecting their autonomy?
Am I respecting them more by respecting their autonomy or by grabbing the steering wheel and fixing it for them?
Like, that's a tough one.
Maybe the part of the answer is it depends on how much the outcome matters.
You know, if they're actually going to die, then yeah, you grab the wheel and veer away from the cliff.
But if they're about to make a bad investment that's not going to destroy their future, then, you know, that's their life, whatever.
I don't know.
It's tough.
Finding that balance is hard.
Wow.
I almost entirely agree with you.
I think the only thing is that I don't know if it's the most important.
It's definitely an important part.
