I am going to read a book that does encompass race, politics and sport.
And I've been looking at it for some months now, longingly waiting for the time to arrive when I can actually devote what will be required to read almost 700 pages.
I love big books if they're well-written big books.
This is a biography of Arthur Ashe who was a hero of mine when I played a lot of tennis in the 70s and I saw this big biography come out written by Raymond Arsenault.
and I looked at enough of it to know that, again, it's time, place.
It's not just a book about Arthur Ashe, the tennis player.
It's about all aspects of Ashe's career, the rise of professional tennis.
So I'm going to embark on that.
Thank you, Bass, and I'm going to think of another pun involving shelves.
