Yeah, so we see it happening across the three generations in the workforce for different reasons.
The baby boomers are starting to retire, but potentially realizing that they still need the additional income.
Or perhaps they just realize that playing golf all day long is not something they want to do for the rest of their life.
But they also don't want to move back to a traditional job.
So they start to do freelancing as a result of this change in their retirement plans.
The Generation X tends to do it mostly for flexibility.
It's elderly parents, young children, spouse mobility.
And it's really this idea that the constraint of place and time does not work well for their personal life.
And then the millennials are notorious.
50% of the millennials are freelancers.
And they are notorious for being more independent than the previous generations wanted to be.
And that idea of freedom and flexibility resonates extremely well with them.
Yes.
And if you had to simplify, you would say there's two types of people freelancing.
There are people that do this as their primary source of income and people who do it for additional income.
And for the second type, it's mostly that idea that you can add on your own time and in your own terms some additional income to maybe pay for vacation or to just pay for the regular bills.
For the people that do it full-time, which are increasingly a large part of the freelancer population, it's really all about this concept of freedom and flexibility, being your own boss and creating your work life around your personal life as opposed to the other way around.
Yeah, I think it's a great thing, right?
So what we see in the study is that both freelancers and traditional employees are aware that the labor market is changing faster than it ever has.
However, how they react to that change is very different.
