We're seeing growth levels that uh allow you to plod along, and that's not that's not enough.
The uh this argument's been going on for so long that we need to grow our way out of it, which obviously does need to happen.
Uh but the the deficit has taken off.
Like this is the highest uh that we've highest uh deficit we've seen in peacetime outside of COVID and and emergency.
urgency uh uh measures uh in wartime.
Uh but as a peacetime deficit being this high, we're spending a trillion dollars on just interest payments on the debt alone.
That is going to require some other type of of action.
It will probably ultimately require the Fed and Treasury to get together and figure something out there.
But it's not a good situation and you can't just say, oh, we're just gonna have higher growth and it's all going to go away
Okay, because it's not.
It's uh it's it's gonna uh really constrain policy making for uh decades to come.
Sorry, I think it's really different kind of handle on it now.
Sorry, I think it's really
Oh absolutely.

If you want to cut taxes for everybody, eventually somebody will pay for it.
Uh, but this is uh clearly an unsustainable path.
There were a lot of confusing things coming out of the Fed chair.
And I think the fact that we had several dissents, three dissents was notable.
It was really just the reality that being a vague and noncommittal Fed chair on inflation doesn't really work when the last three Fed chairs have been communicating really fairly clearly and not leaving doubts with the market.
