And so I think that's a beautiful example of what we're all trying to do ultimately.
Absolutely.
And ultimately, when I teach my students and I love teaching, the goal is not to just deliver information.
Anyone can do that.
ChatGBD can do that.
I'm not just trying to deliver information to them that they memorize and they repeat back and so on.
But what we're trying to do is teach
our students how to think about problems, how to make sense of complex datasets, figure out ways to formulate the right question, and formulate ways to think about complex problems.
And so ultimately, I see our primary goal is to teach our students how to think.
You mentioned philosophy.
You know, what drew me to philosophy is it's a way of trying to make sense of the world we live in and how we think about it.
And what I do now is just a continuation of that entire endeavor.
And that's, I think, what we're all trying to do is just make sense of the world around us in systematic, rigorous, quantitative ways.
Well, you know, I tell her that her dad studies how things move at microscopic scales.
in various contexts.
She's very well aware of the bacterial work.
She comes to my lab every so often.
She has independently developed a deep interest and curiosity in marine life.
And she walks around telling people that when she grows up, she wants to be a marine biologist and discover new microbes in the ocean.
