And he seemed to just bulldoze through those initial controversies.
But again, as I saw someone say online, a Democratic analyst, when someone tells you who they are, you believe them.
Yeah, so clearly that's very troubling to a lot of main Democrats who think, as you said, Graham Plattner should have nothing to do with what comes next.
And what happens is, as you said, Anthony, there is that Monday deadline for him to drop out, and then they only have two weeks to be able to select who is going to be the replacement on the ticket.
That's a pretty short time frame.
I couldn't help but think about, you know, that moment in 2024 where...
when Joe Biden dropped out of the race and there was that scramble.
And then we knew that Kamala Harris was going to take his place essentially on the ticket.
And there was this debate, should there be a contest among Democrats?
And this feels in a way of much smaller stakes, of course, in a different situation, very different figures.
But the Democrats, again, caught back in the situation of who should be the face of our party facing off against the Republican candidate.
I think there are two big questions for me looking at that process is, one, is there enough time for a candidate to actually build a successful campaign?
That was one that we asked about Kamala Harris, of course, at the time.
But then also, if you look at the polling, which we talked about earlier, there was a New York Times, Portland Press, Herald, Siena poll that found that Graham Plattner was in a neck and neck race with Susan Collins.
Does his support translate to another Democratic candidate?
Does that depend on whether that candidate is as progressive as he is?
Or do you have a number of Democrats who say, look, we just want to get Susan Collins out of her seat and get this seat?
I mean, I wonder, you know, some of the voters that you spoke to when you were in Maine, if you see them transferring their vote to another Democrat or whether they really bought into that anti-establishment progressive movement that he represented.
