And I'm so glad to have Owen and Susan and Nicole here to really break down the best ways to achieve your financial goals in 2020 and beyond.

And I'm really glad that you're here and you're willing to talk about money with us because it's sadly a topic that we don't talk about with our friends and family, and we definitely should.

So here we are to share our love of talking about money with you tonight.

And the thing that Owen always forgets to mention is that this is general information only and I don't want to get caught out there because everything about finance ultimately is personal.

It comes down to what works for you.

So everything that's spoken about tonight is general of nature based on our own facts or opinions, hopefully some legitimate facts.

So I wanted to kick off the event tonight talking a little bit about setting your 2020 financial goals before we get into the rest of the presentations and the Q&A.

So a lot of this will seem very basic because a lot of this we have been told a million times before from Barefoot Investor, from every finance book out there,

set a budget, pay off debt, all of that sort of stuff.

But we often don't listen to it, and we need a reminder.

And a lot of this stuff that I'm going to talk about is things that should have made common sense to me, but I didn't actually do myself.

And I spent the first year working full time, and I didn't actually save anything.

My bank account was a bit like a sieve.

So a few of these tips are what I've learned over the last few years while trying to save up to go overseas and not have an empty bank account.

So the first thing to do when you're talking about setting financial goals is start with why.
