You can't always automate going out and buying an ETF or a share.
You can automate the money going into a bank account ready to go, and you can put a calendar in your diary so that every three months you buy that next ETF.
And that's a method that Owen and I often discuss on the podcast, making an event every three months to use the money you've put aside to go and buy the next ETF or share, managed fund, or putting it aside for a house deposit.
And the last thing is accountability.
So if you set all these goals and you don't review them and you don't talk about them with anyone in your life, then it's going to be very hard to achieve.
And I think a lot of the community that we've started to build, we talk about money a lot.
Probably too much.
But talking to someone in your life, whether it be a friend, family member, colleague, even someone you meet on a Facebook group or someone you meet in the room tonight.
Having someone to talk to about your goals, share ideas, because we learn so much by bouncing.
off each other.
I've learned so much from Owen and Nicole and Susan that it's really important to have someone to talk about.
Even send any of us questions and on Twitter and Instagram most people are happy to answer questions about finances because if they're passionate they're usually happy to talk to you about it.
And also setting up a regular review.
So in your calendar
Setting up a quarterly financial meeting with yourself and maybe your accountability buddy.
But something that you can regularly review your goals and if you're not achieving them, maybe adjusting something in your life to make sure you are.
Or you might have to change the goal because it's not quite achievable at this stage.
So making sure you're accountable to yourself and hopefully someone else and regularly checking your goals.
There we go.
That's a little bit about setting your financial goals for this year and all of our speakers tonight are going to elaborate a lot more on different products and different ways to get to your goals and sometimes what happens when goals fail.
