You said you couldn't fit it in your bag, so I brought the active skin repair, which I love. Did we show that out? I don't think so.

Okay, active skin repair is the best thing for bug bites. It's good for you cut yourself. It's good if you have a baby for baby rash. So I brought that. I brought some Band-Aids. I brought some other stuff, some, you know, stuff that we need in the other kit. The kits are really cool. They're very lightweight, and you can fit a lot of stuff.

I have a couple questions.

So, you know, the panic porn that we saw during the pandemic, like if you open up your Apple, you know, iPhone, all these all these crazy things would come up. And I was always thinking that it was produced by the PR machine in China. Do you think that there's any validity to that?

All right. Who leaked the virus and was it intentional?

I know. Yeah. I don't want to.

I do have paranoid thoughts. I figured. So before the pandemic, I remember Trump slapped some tariffs on China, which kind of basically really...

Ruined their economy at the time. And, you know, like I had a friend who used to make pillows and the woman who made the Mophies for Apple. And, you know, there was so much money flowing in back and forth in between us and China. And then it just stopped. And I remember they were very angry and their whole economy fell apart.

And I was just wondering if it was kind of an F you to Trump because of that. The virus.

Because that was really the beginning of it, I think.

It's a dark place to be, trust me.

I mean, I have to take a shower in salt water after every day when I go.

We're just... Fill your cabinets. It's good stuff for the summer. It's also great for bug bites.

My granddaughter, when she gets a diaper change, she gets excited because she's so happy. She really likes it. It's soothing. I know. It's funny. But when they use it every time and also when she started getting baby acne because like at two months, the baby gets acne.

They used it on her face. I was a little nervous, but it cleared it right up, and she has no repercussion. It's crazy.

You know what's funny? This reminds me of the invention in the 60s of Bactine.

But this doesn't burn your cut.

Especially Drew. We just love him. Drew's face looks so good. He forgot to take it with us down to the beach. His skin just looked terrible that day. He's like, oh no, I forgot it. So we have to get some more, Emily. Can you order more?

It does feel similar. Yeah, it is similar. You know what's really funny? When Tommy was talking about the suicide in his life and how depressed he got and he started taking drugs, a lot of the people in that book that they talk about that lived in Laurel Canyon all came from that family history.

Their parents had suicide. Then they ended up taking a lot of LSD later. Interesting. And then became a rock star.

But we got Mama Cass's daughter coming on the show, and she was friends with Sharon Tate, Mama Cass. And it's funny because I didn't even think of her, but I was kind of talking about doing this show, and then she just randomly called me. So I think she's a great guest.

It's the tiniest part of the story. Everybody. He was friends with everybody. He was literally like, he was like an up and coming musician and he had all these girls and he was, he just ended up.

Laurel Canyon, everybody gravitated to Laurel Canyon and that's where it all started. And he was like for a minute going to be an artist. And then he, I don't know, there's something behind the scenes that we don't know about Manson that I think has a connection to Laurel Canyon. And that's what I want to find out. That's my job tomorrow.

And still got elevated. Their band was really bad. I found out listening to this book is that most of those bands started with studio musicians. That's right. And they just made up songs, and that's how it started with the Byrds and Morrison.

We got better with time.

Into this big music scene and this money. There was money and then the anti-establishment, blah, blah, blah. And it was interesting. If you haven't read the book yet, you have to check it out.

I put his bio on the show. I couldn't figure out the right number because we had one from like seven kids or eight kids. So I wanted to put somewhere between seven and twelve children.

It's a tweet that pretty much sums up my thoughts on this, which says, isn't it convenient that there's always a bill ready to be passed to take advantage of any random wink-wink situations? That's my belief on it. I think it's what you're saying. Some people see things in the sky. Other people think they see things. Then people come out and debunk those things. And then there's more.

And then I think it's all just about asking the questions, causing drama because they want to have more control over our skies. I mean, we do have a problem coming, guys. Maybe it did.

There are so many drones out there. What do you think the problem is? I mean, drones, they are very quiet. They are very sneaky little effers, and you can do a lot with them. They're not quiet.

The smart ones are. They're huge.

Like really smart people. That's the thing is they get really smart people. It's like, I mean, I think we've talked about this before with like what Daniel Lazar, I believe, is the guy that saw the UFOs. And the theory that a lot of people think is that, yes, he actually did see alien bodies and UFOs.

But because it was a government plan to fool this one expert with by doing a very large, you know, rule.

Yes, yeah, they're really excited. We're doing the elf on the shelf thing. So my son is right at that age. Just searching for that elf. And we keep telling him, you know, I keep telling my wife, look, because we're doing that thing with the elf where it's like, the elf is watching you. You can't go and push your little sister over.

And I'm like, if he's still doing this stuff, by next year, I'm bringing out the Krampus. We're going to be a Krampus family. Yeah.

And he looks like this ghoul looking, this horrible looking ghoul with like a dripping cloth on him. And yeah, one of our uncles did that to his kid.

Oh, Krampus, I think, is the anti-Santa, I think, kind of, in a way. I think it's a German or something like that. I forget.

Yeah, and I sat around ashtrays all day, so I'm dead.

Yeah, that was a horrendous display of government overreach by the New York State government, which is not uncommon here. I'm based in New York, and this is where I practiced law for the past 25 years or so. But yeah, this is a situation where this is a perfect example of the government wasting taxpayer dollars to pursue something.

The Department of Environmental Conservation went into this couple's home and raided their home for hours. They forced the homeowners to stand outside. I think it was for something like five hours. While they raided the home, they had multiple search warrants, which they obtained, by the way, based on a quote-unquote anonymous tip

from somebody that was you know unidentified um that complained that they had uh you know wildlife in their home meanwhile they they run a wildlife sanctuary um and so which they had for years and uh they went and they seized their pet which was a squirrel peanut um and another pet that they had also wildlife which they had had for i think several months living in the home

And they took them and they ended up euthanizing both of the pets. They didn't even tell the owners. The owners found out because they were reached out to by a media source asking for a comment. You know, how do you feel that they, you know, euthanized your pets? Um, so yeah, so as far as I understand, they are now going to take legal action, um, against the government.

Um, but you know, this is, this is a terrible example, you know, and I have to say, you I guess he was a big sensation on Instagram, I believe it was, and had tens of thousands of followers on social media. So not only did they take the family's pet, but they actually extinguished one of the modes of income for this family.

Which used, I understand, used the money that they were getting that Peanut the squirrel was earning for them to help run their wildlife sanctuary. So, you know, this is what the New York State government is focusing on. When we have plenty of other issues that we need to address, complete silence.

violation of these people's constitutional rights you know i'm glad that they're hiring an attorney i'm glad they're taking action because this is just an example of one example of you know gross government overreach here in new york they do whatever whatever they want what was the what was the allegation what was the alleged uh reason for these uh intrusions

Yeah, I'm not sure what the search warrant specifics were, but I do know in listening to an interview that the property or the homeowners, you know, peanuts owners, gave, he said that they claimed that while they were capturing the squirrel, I guess, one of the federal, one of the government agents got bit by the squirrel. And then, you know, I'm guessing again, there's, it's a little bit fuzzy.

There's not much as far as documentation. I don't believe the Department of Environmental Conservation has made a statement on this yet. But I believe that then led to them euthanizing the squirrel. They wanted to see if the squirrel had rabies, which again, from what I understand, that is not a common, you know, squirrels are not common carriers of rabies.

Yes. So the New York State Department of Health, together with Governor Kathy Hochul, had issued an isolation quarantine procedures regulation. This is going back, you know, a couple of years now. They it was first issued under Cuomo. Then he stepped down. Hochul became governor. And then she kept, you know, her Department of Health kept reissuing this emergency regulation.

And they basically wanted to be able to pick and choose which New Yorkers they could lock up or lock down. They could have locked you down in your home or they could have removed you from your home and put you into a facility. their choosing, you had no say in where you were placed. There were no time restraints, so you could have been locked up or locked down for days or weeks or months.

There was no age restriction, so they could have taken you from your home, but they also could have taken your child or your grandchild or an you know, elderly parents. And there was no process by which you could get out of quarantine once they put you into quarantine. What I mean by that is, you know, this is a great example. We were having oral arguments in front of the trial court judge.

This is back in the spring of 2022. And the judge said to the attorney general, the assistant EG that was arguing the case, you know, he said, well, let's say you take a family. And let's say you take them from their home, you put them into a facility somewhere, maybe like a hospital or whatever. Once they're in there, how do they get out?

And, you know, he thought about it for a minute and he said, well, you know, I guess they could hire a lawyer and they could sue us. So, oh, my God, you would have to hire a lawyer and sue the government to regain your freedom. I mean, it was the most unconstitutional reg I've ever read in my life.

So I brought a lawsuit against the state of New York, and I'm representing a group of New York state legislators, Senator George Borrello, Assemblyman Chris Teague, now Congressman Mike Lawler. together with the Citizens Group, uniting New York State, and we won. We got the regulation struck down as unconstitutional on multiple levels, but the big one was separation of powers.

The governor and the Department of Health don't have the power to make a law, and that really was a law. And so what did they do? The governor, Tish James, our attorney general, they appealed. Of course, they waited until after the 2022 elections when both the AG and the governor were running for election. And they appealed. The appellate court overturned.

Now we're trying to get up to the highest court in New York State to appeal the reversal. It's just a complete astonishing thing. power grab. And thus far, what we're seeing is this is their MO, right? This is what they do in New York.

Yeah, you know, that's a great question. I'm not sure if they are, particularly in our states. Right. You're in California. I'm in New York. Yeah. because the culture in our states is very different than the national culture that we've seen. With last week's election, there was a clear mandate given by the American people to our government. But in New York, we didn't have a red wave like that.

Our election day saw the Democrats, these radical Democrats that control our state in Albany, in the legislature, You know, they all got reelected. You know, they still have their supermajority controlling the New York State legislature. And this Prop 1, this horrendous, another power grab by the New York State government, passed. Here in New York.

So it is a different culture, I think, than the national culture. Now, could that change? Could that trickle down? You know, now that we're going to see some big changes coming at the federal level in our country? Yeah, of course, that can trickle down to the states. But I'm not sure if we are going to see the California government, the New York government pulling back too much.

I'm hoping we do because what they're doing on many levels with these various initiatives is unconstitutional. But when you have complete power like that, when you have one-party rule governing a state as we do in New York and as you do in California – It's very dangerous because you don't see both sides of an argument. You only see one party ruling all branches of government.

And when they do that, then you don't hear half the voices of half the citizens of the state. Well, but interestingly –

That's a great story. I was not aware of that. That is a great story. So that does make me think perhaps the tide might turn a bit in California. Here in New York, Governor Hochul is already reviving the congestion pricing tax, which is basically- We got our gas prices increased 65% for nothing.

Yeah, hoodwink is the correct word here. So Prop 1 was a... New York State Legislature, again, controlled by the radicals here in New York, they put on our ballot last week the proposed change to our New York State Constitution. You know, they dressed it up and made it sound like, and they called it an equal rights amendment so that it sounds wonderful.

But what you saw on the ballot was a two-sentence summary of instead of the actual language that would go into the Constitution. So that's step number one on how they did this great big Trojan horse of a proposition. You didn't even get to read all the language that would go into the Constitution. And so they left out an entire paragraph that is paragraph B of the actual proposal.

And that paragraph B gives the government license to discriminate against New Yorkers for any reason, as long as they said that they were doing it in in the effort to reverse a past discrimination or to try to prevent a future discrimination. So this paragraph gives tremendous power to our state government and not just the legislature, to agencies as well. And then what do we have?

We have people reading this ballot initiative on the back of their ballot. It has two sentences. It doesn't say anything about paragraph B. So they have no idea that they're actually giving the power to the government to discriminate against them. And then you see those two sentences on the back of the ballot are summarizing what was paragraph A of the proposal. And paragraph A sounds very nice.

You cannot discriminate against somebody based on their ethnicity, their national origin. Their age, their disability, their sex, their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, pregnancy outcomes, reproductive health care, and autonomy. I mean, the list was a laundry list. It was 12 new classes that they were adding to our Constitution. To be protected classes.

So, you know, people had no idea about paragraph B. It's being called an equal rights amendment. There's only two sentences on the back of your ballot, which make it sound wonderful because who doesn't want people to have equal rights, right? Nobody wants people to be discriminated against and treated unfairly. So it passed. That's right.

Yeah, you know, I am looking into and talking with other legal scholars on the issue, trying to figure out if there is something that can be done. Unfortunately, so far, we're coming up short on causes of action to undo this. You know, the people don't understand the ramifications.

It's not just that the government can now make discriminatory programs, which if you think about it, what does that look like? Well, reparations. If the government in New York now wants to pass a law requiring reparations, okay, well, now it's going to be constitutional because you can point to the new language in the Constitution that just passed last week.

Or if they want to start putting quotas on elite schools, high-level, high-performance schools, if they want to cap the number of white students or Asian students, which is what we saw in happened with the Harvard case that SCOTUS had struck down. Basically, SCOTUS earlier this year had reversed discrimination, basically, which had been going on in universities and colleges for a long time.

They call it affirmative action. And so now in New York State, that's been put into our constitution as something that is legal. So you're going to see things like that start to happen. But Even talking about like, you know, well, you can't discriminate based on gender identity or gender expression. Okay, so now males have a biological right in New York State to play on girls' sports teams, right?

And males have a biological right, a constitutional right in New York State to use women's bathrooms and locker rooms and dormitories and... prisons. So, you know, people didn't understand and people didn't think about the ramifications of that language because it was dressed up in this really nice, warm and fuzzy language of, you know, protect everybody, equal protection under the laws.

But you're now going to see, because the language in Prop 1 was so broad, you're gonna see really protected classes pitted against one another in New York State and fighting over, well, whose rights are more important, right? Whose rights are now going to trump somebody else's rights? Does the trans athlete have more rights than the girls to play on the girls' sports teams?

You know, we definitely had, a lot of people were speaking out about this. You know, we had Riley Gaines who came to New York, did a press conference with us back in the spring to try and help raise awareness about the real dangers of Prop 1.

I did a press conference in New York City about, I don't know, three or four weeks ago with Paula Scanlon, another swimmer who she was from the University of Pennsylvania. And she had to swim against, as did Riley Gaines. They both had to swim against, you know, Will Thompson, who had changed his name to Leah Thompson.

um and you know get beat out uh or in riley gaines case tied but you know think about it those women had to go into the women's locker room before a swim meet and strip down naked next to a you know fully intact male uh and you know now here in new york state that's that's constitutional Those males have a constitutional right to do this. But where's the women's rights?

What happened to women's rights? Where is the consent? I mean, are you going to ask the women, do you consent to have a biological male in your locker room? This is really going to open the door to mass confusion because when you have

something like this where the language is really broad it opens the door lots of litigation is going to come out of this and then what happens is you have piecemeal resolutions right you have courts and judges deciding these things on a piecemeal basis and that is a problem because then depending on where you live in new york city you have different rights yeah it's quite it's quite dangerous

Yeah, you know what? I wanted to just mention, because you had Tyler on before and he was talking about, you know, how he was getting a letter from Delta, you know, telling him, oh, our legal counsel is looking into this because you threatened, you know, one of our, one of the women that works as a flight attendant.

And, you know, that's a perfect example of what we're seeing and what we're definitely going to see in New York State. You're probably seeing it in California, but even in Nevada, because Nevada passed a constitutional amendment two years ago on their ballot to put some of this, you know, woke DEI language into their constitution in Nevada.

And so a situation like that, well, now somebody like Tyler can be sued because he exercised his freedom of speech, you know, his first amendment right, because they deem it. hate speech, or they deem it discrimination, or they deem it an attack, that is not the way that it works.

You know, the government is not here to tell the citizens what they're supposed to say, what they're supposed to think, how they're supposed to act. That is not the purpose of government. In fact, it's the opposite. We are supposed to tell the government what they can and cannot do. And we are supposed to tell them, this is what we want you to do, not the other way around.

So these, you know, people call them woke ideologies. People call them, you know, DEI or whatever, whatever label you want to put on it. It's all the same premise that it is government overreach. It's a government power grab dressed up in really nice language like, hey, let's all be nice and not discriminate against each other.

We're going to make a rule or a law that tells you you can't say this or do this because we don't want to hurt anybody's feelings. So they make it sound great, like they're trying to help people. But really, it's a stunning power grab by the government.

Also at state levels, um, throughout our country about our rights, because if we don't stick up for our rights, then the government will absolutely take advantage of that. And we'll just continue to push into our private lives. And if people don't know what their rights are, they're not going to stick up for their rights. So, um, yeah, help me spread the word and, um,

Just be more aware of what your government is doing and whether or not they can do that. You know, sometimes they have the power to do things, but a lot of times they don't have the power.

Hi, Dr. Drew. Always so much fun to be here. Excited to talk about bone broth or whatever you want to talk about today.

We do. We do. And that was the point. Whenever we found superfood bars, we realized it was more like a carbohydrate bar with some artificial sweeteners. And so we really wanted to create something that had all of the different ingredients.

So we have bone broth protein powder, which we know is so many benefits that we'll probably touch on today for your hair, your skin, your nails, your joints, your gut. And then we've added other superfoods, cashew butter. We have spirulina in there, acerola. broccoli powder, kale, blueberries.

And so it really is kind of just an infusion of superfoods with every bite rather than having to choke down something that tastes like cardboard and is just really carbohydrate heavy or will make your gut distended after you eat it. It's actually really nourishing. And it tastes good.

I know. I think everyone has different priorities. And a lot of people are looking at macronutrients.

Exactly. And I think it came through my lens of having severe digestive issues for my life that were then remedied through a food-based approach and realizing, oh, well, this is a tool. You can create health every day. Food can be medicine. Food can be poison. And so we're very attention and detail oriented. So we're not going to put anything in the bar that's just for flavor.

It's our lens is the priority of health rather than profit. And I think that makes us just a very, very different company.

Yes. And that was the point because we love an ancestral approach. Not everyone's there yet. So if you don't like the flavor of bone broth, you still don't want to be missing out on the many benefits of collagen because collagen is something that's gone by the wayside in our modern diet because we don't eat nose to tail anymore, but it was something we ate a lot of and it has so many benefits.

So if you have sagging skin, joint pain, gut issues, your decreased bone mineral density, slow to heal your wounds, slow recovery. These are all things that collagen can dramatically improve. And we lose about 1% of our collagen every year after the age of 20. So by the time we're 40, we've lost 20% of it. So if we're not giving our body

the building blocks to produce it we just age more rapidly and there's also something that i love to put on people's radar i think a lot of our symptoms of our aging are actually tied to an amino acid deficiency that you get from collagen and it's called glycine so extensive body of literature on glycine it is technically conditionally essential

But a paper in 2009 showed that we don't make enough to meet our metabolic demand. Most of us are running around with about a 10 gram glycine deficiency per day. And when we don't have enough glycine... I did not realize that. It's really fascinating. It's a lot. And it was a paper by Enrique Melendez Javier. And he said, we make about three grams a day.

We eat about three grams a day, but that we need at least 10 grams more to produce glutathione, which is important for dampening oxidative stress and helping us detoxify. to make collagen. So getting that youthful skin and our healthy joints. Also, Dr. Drew, you'll love it. It's a calming, it has an inhibitory action in the nervous system.

So they've used it for OCD, anxiety, schizophrenia in very large doses. It also improves sleep, improves blood sugar control. So it's essentially like the Swiss army knife of healthy aging. And it's something most people don't even realize they are under consuming. So I think for those reasons, collagen is something-

Yes, with elasticity. And it comes in, it signals the production of more collagen and elastin. And so it gives you that suppleness, that bounce back, that elasticity, and it also holds more water. And they've shown that it decreases the depth of crow's feet. And these effects take about two months. And it's not even from topical collagen, it's from drinking it.

Because we know if you can address beauty from within, address inflammation, that's another thing that glycine's great at.

kind of counterbalancing that inflammation process yes so and also like i said joint pain if anyone loves to play pickleball or you know sometimes doesn't get out of bed and want to work out because they're not recovering as quickly and bloating and gas and this has also been shown in clinical trials to be improved the symptoms are improved by collagen so so many things it's like a swiss army knife like i said of healthy aging

Absolutely not. I know.

I have a sensitivity to garlic.

You do too? Yeah. I do too. It's impossible to eat out. Yeah. I bring our olive oil with us to restaurants.

Well, yeah. And I think my big goal too is I think, I think we need to ban the use of seed oils in fryers. Because that is a well-established body of literature for the dangers there. And so that's one of the things I think. Restaurants just shouldn't be using it anymore. Cases of lung cancer are going in places like China in non-smokers. And their thinking is it's because they're dangerous.

I think so too. I'm more hopeful than ever that that will be on our radar.

Yes, Steak and Shake.

Yeah, and we have a burger restaurant. Have I missed anything? No.

In Boulder, we have a burger restaurant that is seed oil free. We only use salad. So there's an option for the Denver area people as well.

Well, the only other thing I like to tell people is how to use it for best results. And so when we want to improve collagen, tendon, we want to do it around a workout because they don't have a blood supply. So taking it pre-workout, awesome. Also taking it with a meal improves your blood sugar control.

And then taking it before sleep actually drops your body temperature and improves the quality of sleep, the depth of sleep. And then also it improves cognitive health. uh, capacity the day after, even if you don't get great sleep. So that's just how I like to use it. Um, our bone broth protein powder and, but you can use it in other ways is of course.

Well, I always like to try to meet that glycine equivalent, you know, that 10 gram glycine. I like to try to fill that. And so that's going to look like for me to serve the bone broth protein powder and then a bar. That will get you there. This is going to have probably like three grams of glycine. And then you're going to have more here, you know, seven grams or so.

So five to seven grams, depending on.

I love to hear that.

Well, I really like, if you're looking for more energy or something, our organ complex is awesome. It's nature's multivitamin in a capsule. So you don't actually have to eat organ meats, but you can still get all of their energizing benefits. And I also really like our vitamin C. It's a food-based vitamin C because most vitamin C is made from genetically modified corn.

And this is just three superfoods, almond berry, camu camu. And again, Food has different reactions in the body. It has a synergy. It has like a magic. And so we like to get all of our nutrients from food. And so those are two of my other favorite products.

But we also have a super greens that won't make you bloated like other greens powders because they don't have cereal grasses, which humans weren't designed to consume. So. Those are some of my faves.

Oh, our olive oil.

Yeah. Tell me about it. I love olive oil. Yeah, it's actually like bottled fresh and it's a single source. It's a family farm in Greece. Very clean and low levels of olive oil can actually contain linoleic acid, which is the omega-6, but it's far lower than most olive oils because most olive oils are diluted and cut with seed oils and And so the polyphenol content is really high.

The flavor is incredible. And I love it. Yeah, I cook. I use that for salads, soups, stews. And then I like to use the tallow for the high heat cooking because it's just a very stable fat. I also use our tallow on our skin because we're all talking about kind of like detoxifying our beauty care routine. I add essential oil to tallow, rub it. People use it as deodorant with a little baking soda.

You just use it as a skin moisturizer. People also rave about its benefits for your face. So it's kind of like a twofer, a body care product and a very stable, high heat cooking oil.
