Not to get too deep into the weeds here, if it's higher, it needs to be higher through compensating factors, which, in fact, the prime underwriters, GSEs, FHFA and FHA, have kept their eye carefully on this to make sure that there are compensating factors when the debt-to-income ratio is substantially higher than 43%.
But can you imagine if the debt-to-income ratio is 50%, 60%?
That could happen without compensating factors.
And that's my concern.
