Really?

Yeah, who was just as wonderful a human being as he is a player.

And I started at a time when it was pretty nasty for women, and Donnie, who was the captain, was always there.

There's no Bernie Williams if there's no Don Mattingly.

There's no a lot of people because he was a very quiet captain.

You never saw him do it.

But he had always a word for everybody.

I'll tell you, this is who Don Mattingly was.

Pat Kelly, who was a young second baseman, came in the clubhouse once, and he was standing at his locker staring at Don Mattingly.

And I said, Pat, what are you doing?

And he said, I'm watching how Donnie puts on his socks because I want to do it right.

There was a way.

And George Steinbrenner was very precise about that.

But he continues to this day to be my favorite person.

And then, of course, that whole...

That whole 90s group, Derek and Andy Pettit, and then when Roger came over.

It was just, that group was too good to be true.

And if you ask about our manager, I had Billy, Lou, Billy, Dallas Green, Bucky Dent, Stump Merrill, and then Buck Showalter, where everything changed.
