While Wagovi and Zetbound target the GLP-1 hormone, this new drug works on three hormones, GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon.
New trial results show patients with severe obesity and cardiovascular disease taking the highest dose of retatrutide lost up to an average of 56 pounds over 80 weeks, and patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes lost up to an average of 50 over the same time.
Eli Lilly says it plans to submit the findings to a peer-reviewed medical journal.
And although the company had said in May that it was aiming to submit retatrutide for FDA approval by the end of the year,
