Drugs like Ozempic could soon get lower prices in Medicare.
Friday is the last day for drug companies to accept or reject final offers from the government as part of Medicare drug price negotiations.
The new prices are expected to be announced by November 30th, but won't go into effect until 2027.
Until the Inflation Reduction Act, Medicare was not able to negotiate drug prices for the more than 50 million beneficiaries with drug plans.
President Trump announced drugmaker EMD Sirono has agreed to lower prices for its fertility drugs, like Gonal-F, sold directly to patients not using their insurance.

All told, the company's IVF drugs will be offered at an 84% discount.

But the deal doesn't include EMD Sirono's other drugs for things like cancer and multiple sclerosis.

Yeah, it is super, super different.
And that's because weed on the federal level is illegal.
Pharmaceuticals, on the other hand, have to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration based on a very detailed process involving clinical trials and inspections to verify safety and efficacy.
With weed, that robust federal system is not there, which means that the states are basically having to figure this all out on their own and stand up their own
many FDAs and many EPAs.
And they do have a group that they have sort of formed together called CANRA, which is basically a way for state regulators to communicate from state to state with one another to share data and what's working and what's not working.
